THE DOCTOR"S HOUSE
Proper Medical Care Helps In Building Better Futures For All

the site for the Dr's house
The mountains of Honduras are both beautiful and heartwrenching at the same time. The landscape is volcanic, dotted with small subsistences farms and mud huts with rusted tin roofs. Medical care in these, some of the most remote villages in the Western Hemisphere is almost non-existence. Yet the people are some of the most hard working I have ever seen. Poor medical care, disease and malnutrition are caused by poverty and contribute to it's persistence.
Dr's who come on missionary trips are often faced with very primitive accommodations, some distance from the people they needs to serve. Most often our medical teams see 200 plus patients per day, in hot dusty conditions, in remote villages, hours by truck, over roads that are not much better then a cow path. They deserve more at the end of the day, then a cold sponge bath out of a bucket and a two inch mat on a hard board bed.
Building the "Dr.'s house," a small "Casita" in the mountains of Honduras will improve the medical care for the entire region. The first "Casita" will be located near the malnutrition clinic and orphanage in Pena Blanca, Honduras, on donated property.
A small 600 to 700 sf "Casita" constructed of concrete blocks on concrete foundation with a strong metal roof to withstand the yearly monsoons and the occasional hurricane. A solar hot water heater and solar powered, battery backup 12 volt lights and water pumps to make it function like an modern house. A generator to provide electricity for a small air conditioner and stove, when needed. A small kitchen, for that occasional "home cooked meal" and a modern bathroom with a large shower and a flushtoilet with a proper septic tank.
With the Dr.'s House more physicians with more diverse specialties can be attracted to mission trips in the area. What ends up being 2 or 3 day trips can be extended to a week or maybe two. It will open the door to additional physicians and their families, who are not up for wilderness travel.
After the first "CASITA" we will build additional houses in other areas where there is great need.
Help us build The Dr's House.
Each Concrete Block will get us closer to our goal.
5 Blocks = $25.00 10 Blocks = $50.00 20 Blocks = $100.00 50 Blocks = $250.00
100 Blocks = $500.00 200 Blocks = $1000.00 500 Blocks = $2500.00
1000 Blocks = $5000.00 or The Dr.'s House = $25000.00
May God Bless You and Your House and All who enter therein.
