PEOPLE & PLACES

Featuring people and places that touched our hearts.

Touching  lives

caring for others - a reward in of itself
At our out reach medical clinics everyone comes, everyone waits and everyone is seen. It totally amazes me that the entire entire community comes together to prepare for our visit, school is called off for the day and everyone, big and small, old and young gather around to be seen by the medical team. Many wait hours to be seen in the heat of the day after traveling great distances on foot and sacrificing at least part of a days work and yet not one word of complaint could be heard. On the contrary their gratitude showed not only in their words but in their actions, as they saw to our every need. A fan for me, water for George and lunch for us all are just a few of the ways they made us feel WELCOME.

Open For Worship

the Iglesia on campus
This place is truly special, where everyone can worship, but for me it holds the key to this special campus where you can find children willing to give thanks to the LORD and sing his praises so early in the morning, even in the absence of an adult. But this they do each and every morning. I actually found this out quite by accident on my last day at the orphanage. On this morning, like so many other mornings in Honduras,  I woke with the birds about 4:45 AM so I decided to take a walk before breakfast. As I headed down the path I could hear music in the distance, something I had not hear enough of , so I headed in the direction of the chapel. As I rounded the corner the beauty of the chapel was further enhanced by the morning light. All the windows and doors were open and I could see the children within so I joined them. To my suprise there were 22 CHILDREN and 3 DOGS to welcome me. As the service continued they older children read aloud from the bible and told storied to the younger children, and all this was followed by singing. It was a heart warming experience and I gave thanks I was there to witness it.
