I believe that "to whom much is given, much is expected". My wife and I had the opportunity to go to Honduras in 2007 on a Medical/Building mission. My wife to do the medical part, I to do some building. We fell in love with the Honduran people. They are incredibly hard working and industrious, yet not demanding or pushy. Except for the occasional car or cell phone they are living in the late 1800's with the modern world swirling about them. I believe God exposes you to situations where your talents and abilities can be used to their fullest. These people don't need a "hand out," and would be ruined by one. I have been an entrepreneur since I was sixteen and I see that spirit in the Honduran people. They just need a little "Hand Up" here and there to help them brake the "Cycle of Poverty" that is holding them down, and that is what we plan to offer them ! george@onthisrock.org
TERRI LOE R.N., B.S.N.- VICE PRESIDENT/SECRETARY

Terri Loe with babies at the clinic
I have been a Nurse, since 1983 and still love what I do every day, "passionately helping people." That is why, when my husband and I, had the opportunity to go on a Medical/Building mission trip to Honduras in 2007, we jumped at the chance. For me, the added appeal, was that the mission was centered around children, another passion of mine, as I also hold a degree in early childhood education. Even though, I work full time as a Nurse, I use my education background on a daily basis as well. Now my nights and weekends are used to help coordinate the efforts of this non-profit and vacations are spent in the mountains of Honduras, helping people lift themselves out of poverty. As co-founder, Vice-President and Director of Health Care and Educational Services of "On This Rock" I serve without compensation as do all our Officers and Board Members, for our payment is the smiling faces of strangers and the gratification they radiate as we serve them in little ways that make a big difference in their lives.

KEITHA SPIEKERMAN - FOUNDING DIRECTOR

Keitha Spiekerman
When someone asks Keitha to describe herself, she often says "it’s hard to talk about herself, without telling you about her precious family." She's said, on many occasions, that she has four chambers in her heart. One chamber for her son and daughter, one for her husband, one for others and last one for herself. Her parents raised her to understand and respect the importance of God and family and others in her life and she points out that "if you have never experienced unconditional love, just have a child or help one in need and you will feel this passion." On This Rock was founded to do just that.
In addition to being a mother, wife, Realtor and business leader, Keitha, has headed the "Toys for Tots" program for the local Board of Realtors for the last three years. She has served on the Agent Leadership Council, for her company, as a leader and head of the education committee for the last two years and somehow found time to start a Children's event and educational program in her local Country Club. Keitha brings her special expertise for children's programs, office procedures and Real Estate matters to "On This Rock"

EVEITH MILLER - ADVISORY DIRECTOR FOR WOMAN'S HEALTH

Eveith Miller Lic Midwife
For Eveith the practice of midwifery was a calling that can early, at age 17 she was invited to attend a home birth, and the sail was set from that point on.
Eveith Miller has been a midwife since 1972; she has practiced in Louisiana, Oregon and Texas. By 1984 she had set anchor in Texas, where she still practices today. All together Eveith has delivered over 1600 babies in her career and she has made many valuable contribution to the field of midwifery, not the least of which was assisting to pass a law legalizing midwifery in Louisiana. A true visionary in her field, Eveith is always expanding her horizon, offering clients a variety of choices in not only the birth setting but in the mode of delivery as well. A favorite of many is the underwater birthing process which is easily accomplished in either of these settings. The scope of practice of a midwife goes far beyond the birthing process, using a holistic approach and often alternative methods when treating woman before, during and after the birth of their child...
Eveith started delivering babies before she herself ever had her first child. But along the way she had three opportunities to practice what she preaches by having a midwife in attendance when her children were born at home. Now as the years have passed she has had the opportunity to deliver the next generation in her family as one after another of her children made her a grandmother. Midwife, mother and grandmother - Eveith feels honored to wear each of these hats.
On many occasions Eveith has donned other hats, educator, business owner friend and wife but soon she will widen her audience through the publication of her latest accomplishment a complete and up to date midwife reference book.
Since her early day of delivering babies in the bayous of Louisiana Eveith has known that she wanted to do mission work. Reach out to others, giving of herself is what she does. So now that the nest is empty and her family needs her less she has joined up with On This Rock to make a difference in the lives not only the children of Honduras but those who bring them into the world.
In a country where teen mothers deliver at home and few have access to prenatal care, her expertise will be an important part of our out reach to the Honduran people.
